Afternoon The Marmore Falls is the highest artificial waterfall in the world and it represents another gift of the Roman period. In 281 b.C., the Roman consul Manius Curius Dentatus ordered the construction of a canal to drain the marshes that surrounded Rieti and the stagnant water was pushed toward the Marmore Cliff. During the 18th century, the Marmore Falls was one of the most appreciated destinations of the Grand Tour, a cultural journey undertaken by men and ladies of the upper classes, artists and writers. The amazing beauty of the Marmore Waterfall is, in fact, celebrated also by Lord Byron. 
The Marmore Park offers different thematic paths to discover the nature and the history of this territory. For example, some of these paths offer the opportunity to admire the strength of the water from different perspectives and other ones lead to various bevedere to enjoy the amazing view of the surroundings.
